Cons: shower has weakest water pressure I have experienced in Europe (the sink had a very high flow rate with no aerator so I suggest that low flow faucets are installed instead of whatever limits the flow in the showers that forces people to take long showers and creates a line), kitchen consisted of a microwave and sink so we couldn't cook anything decent, no one around in the morning, no soap in WC near toilets (while common in the lower quality albergues and bars, it increases the risk of guests and staff getting sick.)

Really cool hostel for the Camino. But the bar service was horrible. Really small plate for 6.50. And unprofessional when we were going to pay. Nice hostel , but eat somewherelse.

They shut the whole place down at 9pm. Lock the doors, no one is allowed in the common areas. No one can go outside. Pain in the ass, not to even mention the safety hazard. Sure, great facilities...nicest jail I've ever been in.

Excellent pilgrim accommodations in a restored medieval pilgrim's hospital turned hotel. Great outside patio and small bar. Best place to stay on the Camino de Santiago in Villafranca Montes de Oca.

We stayed in a double room in the albergue. The room was nice and bathroom was very nice...except the smell. I ran water through all the traps to see if it was just backed up. No luck. Good news was the lounge was amazing for drinks after hiking. Communal dinner was good except the chicken was pink and nearly raw they served my wife. I think it was a busy night and they just oversaw one item. My food was great. Bread amd wine were awesome. Breakfast im lounge area was best we have had as pilgrims.

I will never return, and will instruct anyone who asks advice about the Camino to avoid this place. Prime example of why the Camino is losing its soul.

Pros: good dinner (12€ for pilgrims), relatively clean, good ratio of windows to beds in albergue, good location on Camino route

To be more serious for a minute, this place is billed as an Albergue created from the generosity of the hotel owner who allegedly walked the Camino once and wanted to "give back." What it feels like? The hotel owner recognized pilgrims as a steady stream of income to supplement his hotel. He can play the role of "friend to the pilgrim," while hiding them away, keeping them under lock and key so they don't disturb the real guests. Shame on him.
